Anniversary

This year will be a special one for the whole FBS community, since we will be celebrating our anniversary in 2010. As some of you may well remember, Flanders Business School originates from the Antwerp Handelshogeschool (now Lessius). About 40 years ago, this is where the very first evening classes for postgraduates were being held. Ten years later, the school decided to launch an MBA program in Antwerp. At the same time, the co-operation with Kellogg School of Management in Chicago became a fact and since then, our students have benefit from the knowledge and insights of this top ranked school. But it wasn't until 2000 - when FBS took its current name and form - that the new management, faculty and advisors of the school acknowledged that entrepreneurship is a key factor in a society that wants to preserve the prosperity of its members, since it is the motor for innovation and growth.
30 years MBA - 10 years focus on entrepreneurship So, what better purpose could a business school serve, than to answer to the needs of the companies that provide us of employment opportunities and wealth? As state-of-the-art research from our own research centre ILC² had shown, entrepreneurship is not as 'magical' as many like to believe. Instead, it was clear that entrepreneurship can be taught as a process. If we could find a way to educate the brightest managers so they would be able to think, act and react as an entrepreneur, it would mean we could help companies unlock a massive potential for growth. If we could teach entrepreneurs in the bud how to build a company on solid, viable business ideas, it would mean new ventures would have a better chance of survival and more young companies would gain the necessary knowledge to expand.
That is why the focus on entrepreneurship has been our main concern throughout these ten years. Today, Flanders Business School is fully achieving thought leadership in the domains of entrepreneurship, corporate entrepreneurship and future & foresight thinking. Apart from the Executive MBA-program, FBS has developed groundbreaking in-company executive education programs that target company renewal and attract large international companies, such as Picanol Group, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Alcatel-Lucent, DEME Group... In less than 10 years time, hundreds of new ventures have been start up by our students and many more are in the making as we speak. That sure calls for a celebration! Anniversary Calendar – upcoming events Students' contest FBS-AWARDSEntrepreneurs and designers share the same creative mind frame. During our anniversary year, we're looking for talented youngsters who can take a tough briefing: capture the spirit of entrepreneurship in a matching design for an award. We have three winners:
